Behind the Curtain
Bob Worth
Have you ever wondered how a concert is put together? Where does it start? Who selects the theme and why? Which pieces are chosen? How is a so-called ‘golden thread’ created which binds the pieces together, forming in the end a unified whole? What are the ultimate goals for the concert, both for the performers and for the listeners?
Bob Worth, Sonoma Bach’s music director, will attempt to answer these questions and more in a close look at what’s called (not very poetically) ‘concert programing’. Currently deeply imbrangled in designing our 2021-2022 season and the concerts therein, Bob will share his thoughts and experiences and some working principles regarding this often-overlooked but nevertheless fundamental aspect of what we do.
Come join us as we explore this topic together and look under the hood of what happens
long before the first note is sung or played!
Note: We will do some singing, including some peeks into music which we’ll perform in 2021-22.
Singing is not required, however, and non-singers are warmly encouraged to attend.
