Gratitude in Challenging Times
Robert Worth
To set the mood for Thanksgiving Week, Bob Worth leads an exploration of music about gratitude. Anchoring the session will be movements from two large works: Bach's Cantata 29: 'Wir danken dir', which includes the model for the 'Gratias agimus tibi' and the 'Dona nobis pacem' from his 'Mass in B Minor'; and the festive 'Missa Gratias agimus tibi' by one of Bach's contemporaries, the Bohemian composer Jan Dismas Zelenka. Woven around these works will be pieces about gratitude by earlier composers, including Orlande de Lassus, William Byrd and Heinrich Schütz. Join us to learn about, listen to and sing this wonderful music together, and to celebrate the true spirit of Thanksgiving!

Note: Non-singers are warmly encouraged to join the session.
