As a choir director/music teacher, I find myself thinking of the holidays pretty much as soon as summer vacation is over. In "normal" times it's to plan for an upcoming concert, where I consider the theme, what my students can create, and what I want to bring to the greater community. This year my outlet for early holiday spirit is you, dear listeners! We'll listen to Palestrina's Missa Hodie Christus Natus Est, a parody mass based on his motet of the same name. It's a double choir mass, full of the character, joy, and anticipation of the original motet. Noe, noe!
